Tanker Truck Fire on Highway

Firefighters in Killeen were called Wednesday morning after a tanker truck caught fire on State Highway 195, south of Walnut Drive.

A caller reported the fire shortly after 7 a.m. Crews were able to put out the flames quickly. They then discovered that the tanker was carrying 3,600 gallons of liquid asphalt.

A Waco HazMat crew was called to take care of any spillage from the tanker.

The highway was closed while firefighters dealt with the fire, but reopened by 8:45 a.m.

Texas Department of Transportation crews took over the scene while the debris was cleared.
